Magazine Redesign WebExtra

Nov 10th, 2009 | Category: Fall 2009

You might have noticed that the print version of the fall 2009 magazine looks a little different from previous issues. …

The new design of the University of Baltimore Magazine is meant to reflect the myriad changes at the University. Most notably, we’re growing—in the size of both our physical campus and our student population. We hope you’ve been reading about this transformation and the resulting buzz on campus (pun intended) in recent issues of the magazine; if not, you can glance through archived issues.

When we set out to update the magazine’s design, we did so with the goal of visually illustrating to you, the reader, the same sense of excitement that’s permeating the University. The updated masthead on the front cover more clearly emphasizes the word “Baltimore,” reinforcing UB’s strong commitment to the city. You’ll also notice that the magazine has been renamed; while our 50,000-strong alumni base will always receive the magazine, we added “for alumni and friends” to recognize something about which we’re quite proud: the fact that not only alumni, but also family, friends, community members and various other constituents have let us know that they read and enjoy our publication.

Design-wise, you’ll notice  a much more contemporary look in the typographic treatment, color choices and layout, along with an emphasis on larger photographs and illustrations, as you read through the pages of this issue.

We hope you continue to enjoy the University of Baltimore Magazine as much as we enjoy producing it. We also hope you’ll e-mail us to let us know what you think about the redesign and about the magazine in general.
