Meet the New Bee
May 16th, 2010 | Category: Spring 2010

The UB Bee's debut, complete with escorts and a red-carpet rollout, was the highlight of the bee-themed block party.
Not the same old bee, to be sure. UB’s new mascot, inspired by bees from decades past, exudes the same friendly (yet fierce!) demeanor he always has, but with a little bit more of a contemporary … well, sting. The UB Bee debuted at the spring block party on April 22—making University history, as he graced the scene in the form of an exponentially-greater-than-life-size bee costume worn by an anonymous student with excellent people skills. A crowd of students, faculty and staff was on hand to greet the new bee, embracing what the mascot represents: friendliness, enthusiasm and immense energy and excitement for the University of Baltimore.
Look for the new bee to show up on merchandise in the UB Bookstore, at alumni and student gatherings and, of course, wherever UB pride is buzzing. Find out more about the UB Bee at www.ubalt.edu/mascot.
